Free Parking and a Bright Future for Boscov’s

Demolition of the current Water Street parking garage adjoining Boscov’s begins on December 27th to make way for a brand new 549 spot parking facility. When complete, this much-needed and easy-to-use parking deck will offer easy access and safe parking for Boscov’s shoppers. During demolition and construction, free parking for shoppers will be available in three locations. Those locations are (see attached map):
1. The section of Water Street in front of Boscov’s is now one-way with Free street parking on either side of the road for Boscov’s customers.
2. Boscov’s customers can park in either the Hawley Street or State Street garages, which are each only one block away. Customers receive Free parking by having parking tickets validated inside Boscov’s.
3. Free surface-level parking adjacent to the Hawley Street Garage.

Mayor Richard C. David said, “Over the course of the last several years, the City and Boscov’s have been working together to identify ways to modernize the building, address many of the deficiencies that have resulted from the age of the structure.

I am truly grateful to Jim Boscov for his desire to keep the store in Binghamton and enhance the shopping experience for all customers. As the City begins demolition of the aging Water Street parking garage and advances a $25 million market-rate housing project above the garage, upgrading Boscov’s building is the final piece of a project that will have the largest transformative impact yet on downtown.”
